In an interesting turn of events, has a fixed named H-W technology sued 32-sized high-tech companies – including large fishes like Apple, Amazon, Google and Microsoft — for patents infringement. The lawsuit adds Nokia and Rim also to the list of patent violators. (H)-W has a single patent awarded way back in April 2009 named Internet Protocol phone with Search and advertising capacity.
The patent is owned by H W describes itself as "a platform in an internet protocol (IP) phone have the ability to use with a variety of communication infrastructure such as broadband, wireless communications and Plain Old telephone system (POTS) service. Software platform in IP phone has the ability to be used with different applications operate on the IP-phone ".
It also claims that the IP phone has the ability to perform additional features than traditional public switched telephone Network (PSTN) phones.
The major part of the patent, which the company has given the utmost importance is that it can perform additional functionality "which searches and advertising, given its ability to converge voice and data within a single terminal.
According to the company, include patent also smartphones. The wording in the patent, has urged the company to file a lawsuit against companies such as Amazon, LG, eBay, Hotels.com, Google, Price line, Expedia, Buy.com, Samsung, Microsoft and Verizon.
The case is currently before the Court for the Northern District of Texas, Dallas Division.
Suit law requires a permanent ban on 32 companies involved in the case. Asking for compensation in cash for damage, requires H-W trial also extra damage from companies for knowingly infringe a patent.
